What personal data we collect and why we collect it

Information you provide us by registering for an account

In addition to the information provided automatically by your browser when you visit www.octnh.org to become a subscriber to Operation you will need to create a personal profile. You can create a profile by registering with Operation and entering your email address, and creating a user name and a password. By registering, you are authorizing us to collect, store and use your email address in accordance with this Privacy Policy.

We only collect information about you if we have a reason to do so; for example to provide our services, to communicate with you, or to make our services better.

Comments

When you leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form (your name, your email and, optionally, your website address), and also your IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection. An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

Public Information

Our Website enables you to post information to be accessed by others through our comments. When you do so, other visitors may collect your data and attempt to contact you off the site. Operation cannot be held liable for any offsite communications that result from your posting of personal information on our site. If you do not wish to be contacted offsite by other Website visitors, do not give your e-mail address or website address in the content when leaving a comment. Please note: Although you are required to provide your e-mail address in the specified field when entering a comment, your e-mail address will only be available to the Website administrators and will not be publicly visible.

Media

If you upload images to the website, you should avoid uploading images with embedded location data (EXIF GPS) included. Visitors to the website can download and extract any location data from images on the website.

Contact Forms

Information submitted through the contact forms on our site includes your name and email, as well as any other personal information you might voluntarily supply. We only use this information to better serve you. The information collected through our contact forms is never used for marketing purposes, and is never shared with third parties. Contact Form stores a record of all form submissions. Your data may be deleted by the site administrator. You may request a report of saved data related to your email address. Uploaded media files may remain on the server.
